"We're the ones with the train." We invite you to join us on an exciting journey through frontier America--Julian style. Experience the gold mines, the farms, the home life, the travel and family fun. All Smith Ranch tours include train rides. We're open Monday-Saturday by reservation. We currently offer the following tours & field trips for individuals, families, groups & schools:
JULIAN TRAIN & GOLD MINE TOUR ~ "THE JULIAN TRAIN RIDE" 1½ hours, all ages welcome, includes a 1-mile scenic & historic train ride on our narrow gauge "Smith Ranch & Julian Railroad", a tour of our authentic Smith Ranch 1870 gold rush mine, gold panning for the kids, and more! (Monday-Saturday by reservation generally at 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm, & 2:30 pm. Available year-round.) Train video clip (the locomotive is a rare type of non-polluting tunneling locomotive). Enjoy the California Gold Rush! Please book in advance so we can guarantee you a seat on the train.

PIONEERWAYS ADVENTURE ~ 3½ hour group tour, all ages welcome, includes 1-mile train ride. It's 1800's America and the Gold Rush is on. "Go west!" and have a whole lot of fun learning the hands-on skills the pioneers needed to survive. (Available year-round.) *Bonus: Free Julian Apple Pie for the next 9 teachers who reserve a Pioneerways Adventure Tour for their school!
JR. PIONEERWAYS ADVENTURE ~ 2½ hour group tour, all ages welcome, includes 1-mile train ride. "All aboard for the Julian Pioneer Mining Camp!" Enjoy this hands-on gold rush adventure in 1800's California! (Available year-round.)
AMERICAN REVOLUTION ADVENTURE ~ 3½ hour group tour, all ages welcome, includes 1-mile train ride. "Turn out! Turn out! The Redcoats are coming!" Experience life in 1700's Colonial America at the time of the Revolution! (Available year-round.)
PILGRIM THANKSGIVING ADVENTURE ~ 2½ hour group tour, all ages welcome, includes 1-mile train ride. "Stow the cargo and hoist sail!" It's 1620 and you're aboard the Mayflower! (Available only during the month of November. So you don't miss out, sign up now for Fall 2012.)
JULIAN CHRISTMAS TRAIN EXPRESS ~ 1-1½ hour tour, all ages welcome. --NEWS FLASH!--We think we might have accidentally dug into the North Pole inside our gold mine! We're calling all experts, especially children, to check it out! (Includes 1-mile train ride, Smith Ranch 1870 gold rush mine visit, and country Christmas surprises. Available November 24-December 31, 2012.)
